Preliminary Task Self Reflection
We have just done our preliminary task filming a short two minutes scene where the criteria were to have shot; a door opening; people walking through door and to a destination; for them to sit down; and then have a conversation.
This is a short evaluation/ self reflection where I will talk about what went well, what went wrong and my critic of it.
What Went Well?
- We shot all the scenes in the time given
- All technical equipment worked
- Our group worked well together and agreed to their set jobs
- We quickly developed a system to time the shooting of the camera with the beginning of the performance were we would silently count to three after the camera was turned on to ensure no performances where cut off.
What Went Wrong?
- Late planning of scenes meant that actions and script was impromptu and not thoroughly planned
- Camera angles weren't pre-planned
- Continuity wasn't considered to great extended during impromptu lines and shooting
- Callum and Riley couldn't stop laughing
- Oliver was a impromptu camera man who learnt as he went.
What Can We Do To Improve?
- Before shooting we should have story boarded and scripted the entire scene
- Make sure everyone knew what their job was before hand and knew what and how to do it
- Not just story board the plot line but also possibly consider certain angles in advance to make editing easier.
